I’ve been practicing photography whenever I can for a few years now and I think it’s one of the coolest and most flexible hobbies: it doesn’t require constant practice, like the guitar, which I played as a teenager, or any other musical instrument. You photograph “with intention” when you have the availability to be attentive and totally present.

And this is one of my favorite photos from my portfolio. I shot it in Havana on a day when I walked a lot with my camera in hand. In the composition, the car is almost at the crossroads; the vibrant yellow brings a presence that emphasizes it as the main object. But the background is also very nice: the church in a lighter shade of yellow. And the rising vertical line of the church tower is also an antagonistic vertical line in the background to the car. And to complete the picture, the people are at the tables, nobody looking at the camera.

I liked it so much that I printed it out very large and put it prominently in my living room. And for those who like to take pictures, it’s really nice to put the “art” on the wall at home. 🩵
